Been a while since my last Team Fortress 2 fanart and game session. So when the studio asked for a game related artwork for an upcoming game event in Singapore, The first game that come onto my mind is Team Fortress 2

This piece is actually inspired by the official Sniper vs Spy poster, I had thought of doing a versus piece too but I just couldn't get a sketch/idea out in time, so I decide to stick with a teamwork piece instead.

I actually don't have much time to finish it, in fact tomorrow, I will have to book in into camp for 2 days of army service before the event, but still I am pretty happy with what I came up with I hope everyone will like it, especially the fans

The Urban Explorer

Once known as a retail and entertainment hub, now a shadow of it past glory as nature begin to retake the ruins

Yet still it attract tourists from all over, as a must stop area for any ruin explorers.

But do take precautions, while in the past, it might be one of the safest place on earth, but now, it will only be safer with a weapon or two at hand.

This is a piece I did around 5-6 months ago, it was meant for another project but plans changed and I got to post it now

It is strange how a few months after I "completed" it, I still end up making major changes to it after I was prepared to post it up a few days ago.

Battle Stations Athena Skye

Finally able to show some work that I was doing last year, this is the final concept for the ship, Athena Skye crewed by the main characters of the comic Battle Stations Athena Skye.

Initially when the job came in I was praying for the client to request for an Iron Clad battleship (One of my favorite topic) :p. But they requested for a more traditional pirate ship, and that is definitely a challenge and a great learning experience, I got to study some of the details of the ship sail rigging and how the sails were operated in the age of the sail.

All in all I had a great time doing it :D .... oh how I wish I get an iron clad to work on.... well guess I shall just do one for a personal piece.

This is an ambitous full coloured manga I was trying work up around 2 years ago right after I finish my colour job for shrapnel, I started off fully motivated and high in morale since I was able to survived 150+ pages for shrapnel in one shot so I guess, it will be no problem for me to attempt something equally as challenging for a personal project....

Geeez... how wrong can it go, I managed to plan 70 + pages before setting off to full colours, and this 5 pages was all I could managed before I was totally burned out, as I didn't have the hindsight to realised that, I survived Shrapnel because I was doing it as a job 9 hours a day with enough rest after it to carry on the fight the next day, but with Spirit Link, it was 9 hours of work, and at that time I was working on City of Dust... another mentally exhausting project, then 3 to 5 hours after work for Spirit Link.

And as a result the collapse came swift, I was totally burned out after page five.

I tried to restart the project after deciding a change of style can help reduce the mental energy I need to inject into the project, but everytime I tried, I end up attempting to push the quality ever higher, resulting in more burns... so ... for now this project is shelved until, I can summon up another boost of confidence and make another mad dash.

How to do you motivate yourself when you found that you are unappreciated and forgotten...
It is sad for I am running out of ways to do just that, especially when each time the truth sink in even deeper. I wonder how long can I lie to myself, frankly I am getting dead tired, to the point I need to force myself to laugh at any lame jokes that turns up just for the hope it can help me become happier...

Sometimes I just feel like ending all this and hopefully have a fresh start.

And I bloodly hate x'mas, hate it hate it hate it!

Warhammer Fanart WIP sketch

A fanart up that I am currently working on. Still in the process of adding more I.G troops into the battlefield and maybe a few orks corpses too.

Althought I didn't play the tabletop game, I still do read up on the stories of the Warhammer world (both fantasy and 40k) and I always managed to find something new and interesting about the world that I didn't know beforehand.

For this piece I wanted to put in Cadian troops because they are such a badass group of soldier but after doing a bit of research on the war that I am basing this piece on, I find the Steel Legion troops to be a better fit for this. (And by the way, they are equally as cool as the Cadians, think gas mask and trenchcoats :p )

Getting into Character?

Sometimes I really wonder is it good to get into character with designing one for a story?

Over years I had always loved to imagine myself to be in the shoes of the character, attempting to think like them and act like them. Sometimes I will forget about it and brought those characters outside into the real world, I am now wondering how serious had all this getting into the character sessions had been causing to my own personality or is my current personality the real person or just a mask that I had unwittingly created upon myself.

History History History!!!

Wahahaha by now, most friends might have know I am avid history reader, meaning I read history records like reading novels/comic/manga. And I watch documentries like watching movies/tv series/anime.

Someone actually asked me why i loved history so much, and how does it helped in my job as an artist, well~ I see myself more of a story teller sharing my stories with the world, and human history is the best inspirations for stories.

Ever wonder why, when u read a book and in ur mind you will go "yes, this part of the story sound real, that part of the story sound so fake?". Well normally to make a story feel real, there must be alot of elements to support it, and what are these elements? History! like the history behind the characters, the world and the objects. And why, is this related to actual history? Simple, we can easily find similar incidents in history to relate to those situation in our own works.

Example, the story about two men who paths once cross in battle, one lose but the other spared him, unfortunately the loser ended becoming the most dangerous villain the world had ever seen and the winner regret to not killing him in the first place, etc etc and u can continue the story from here. So where in history does this took place? Well it is in the trenches of world war I when the highly decorated british soldier Henry Tandey let off a certain injured german soldier because Henry doesn't believe in shooting an injured person whether is he an enemy or not. Well guess what, the German soldier turn up to be a certain Adolf Hitler.

Also when designing things and the world, history provided a guideline to how things and technology evolved, example again, when u are designing a tank series for a sci-fi game, u can relate to how the major powers in WWII designs theirs, Germany felt that heavy armor+heavy guns+state of the art technology outweight numbers thus their tanks evolved to be bigger and more technolgical advanced, the allies thinks otherwise, and put pricing and mass production as a more important factor, and thus their tanks reflected that, new cheap mass produced tanks with inferior firepower compared to the new heavy german tanks.

See, interesting bits of informantions were recorded in the history text, and what makes them interesting is that, you know for certain, it is quite true, and it sometimes affect the world we live in now.

So next time when going through a library or bookstall, hop by the history section and flip through a few pages that might interest you. You might gain alot of knowledge and insight about the workings of the world, and maybe inspired some new arts

Went to Fort Canning a while ago to do some sketching, tried doing some on the spot watercolouring, but fail quite badly. The rest of the sketches I did there can't show up properly after scanning :(

This is the actually the first pieces i did, standing under the shade of a tree and in a area full of passerbys walking past behind me to the nearby churches. Next time I will remind myself not to end up in an area like that, especially not on a hot day and without a place to sit at

Originally designed as high speed commence raiders, their crew soon realised that the lack ofarmor make them easy prey to fast firing light weapons of the very ships that they are supposedto hunt. But unfortunately many had already been completed before the flaw was discovered.

In order to make up for the mistake, the military decided to make use of the countless obsoletetanks by taking their guns and armors to improve the fight capablities the boats. In order tofool the enemy intelligence, all the refitted boats were called "Panzerschiffe" or armored ships.

Despite being fitted with more armor and a heavier new gun, the boats were still very capable of performing their role well, easily outrunning any ships thats more powerful then it is, but ismore than capable of taking on any ships that can catch up to it.

While performing very well in their early year, the enemy managed to counter it with better weapons being mounted on their merchant ships, and many ships were sunk as a result. Soonthe surviving ships were mostly taken off their raiding missions and many left to rust indocks.

The E21 is one such boat which had been left to rust in the docks while her crew waited fortheir next mission
